40g Protein Blend
A combination of whey + casein protein delivers both fast and slow digesting protein. This makes Smart Mass perfect for: post-workout, before bed, between meals...any time!
-
Slow-Digesting Carbs
Most gainer products are loaded with sugar and simple, cheap carbohydrates. We use a slow digesting carbohydrate, pea starch, for prolonged delivery of carbs compared to simple sugars.
-
No Added Fats
We have nothing against fats for bulking, but you often get plenty of fat through your bulking diet already. Adding more through supplementation could turn your muscle-focused bulk into a fat-focused bulk. Smart Mass is a clean, smart gainer.

Smart Mass: The Clean Weight Gainer
Building mass requires consuming more calories than your body expends to support normal bodily functions and movement, including physical activity.
However, whether due to a poor appetite, a busy schedule, or a fast metabolism, consistently getting enough calories to gain weight each day can be challenging.
Fortunately, supplementing your diet with a mass or weight gainer is an efficient and cost-effective way to increase your calorie intake and promote weight gain.
But, not all mass gainers are the same — many are filled with low-quality and cheap sources of protein and carbohydrates that are poorly used by your body and can wreak havoc on metabolic health.
This is why PEScience created Smart Mass — a mass gainer that delivers the calories you need to gain weight, the clean way.
Smart Mass Ingredients
Here's a closer look at the quality ingredients in each Smart Mass serving:
Whey and Casein Blend
Smart Mass features a premium whey and casein blend as its protein source, providing a generous 40 grams per serving.
Whey and casein are derived from milk and provide all nine essential amino acids, which your body can easily digest, absorb, and use for muscle protein synthesis.
Though both are derived from milk, whey and casein differ in many ways.
Casein forms curds upon exposure to the acidity in your stomach, slowing digestion and absorption of amino acids into the bloodstream. Conversely, your body can digest and absorb whey protein much more rapidly.
For these reasons, casein is called a "slow" digesting protein, and whey a "fast" digestion protein.
Whey and casein also differ in the abundance of amino acids they provide.
Compared with casein, whey contains several active proteins called immunoglobulins that bolster the immune system and have antimicrobial effects (1, 2).
Whey also has a higher proportion of the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), especially leucine which is thought to act as the "trigger" that jumpstarts the muscle-building process (3).
But compared with whey, casein provides a higher proportion of amino acids like arginine to support nitric oxide production as well as several bioactive peptides that benefit your immune and digestive system (4, 5).
These differences make a whey and casein blend superior to either protein alone. This is especially true for building muscle since you get the benefit of a quick but long-lasting rise in amino acids in your bloodstream to support muscle growth and recovery (6, 7).
Complex Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are your body's preferred energy source, especially during high-intensity exercise since they are the only macronutrient that can be broken down quickly enough to provide energy to working muscles (8).
But not all carbohydrate types are the same.
Many mass or weight gainers use a type called maltodextrin — commonly derived from corn, potato, and rice starch — since it's cheap, mildly sweet, and easily dissolvable in solutions.
However, maltodextrin is easily digested and rapidly converted into glucose. While this can be useful for providing an immediate energy source to support long-duration exercise, its rapid absorption can encourage greater gains in fat rather than muscle when consumed in excess (9).
For this reason, Smart Mass provides carbohydrates that are digested and absorbed much slower than maltodextrin, causing them to release glucose into your bloodstream more gradually.
These carbohydrates come from peas, oats, and isomaltulose (Palatinose) to provide more balanced blood sugar levels in support of a healthier metabolism and minimize digestive discomfort (10, 11).
Digestive Enzymes
Mass gainers are notoriously known to cause gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, stomach aches, and diarrhea.
Even though Smart Mass provides ingredients that tend to be well tolerated, it still includes a full spectrum of digestive enzymes to maximize absorption and minimize stomach issues.
These enzymes supplement your body's enzymes to support the digestion and absorption of protein, fats, and various types of carbohydrates, including lactose.
Who Can Benefit from Smart Mass?
Smart Mass is great for anyone who struggles to consume enough calories to gain weight or muscle. And at just two dollars and some change, Smart Mass is extremely cost-effective considering its high-quality ingredients and high protein content.
This includes athletes who could benefit from gaining weight to perform better at their sport, or bodybuilders looking to add size in the offseason.
Smart Mass can also benefit those who just consider themselves too skinny and want to put on a few pounds, or older adults who experience unintentional weight loss.
Each serving provides 440 calories — the perfect number to support healthy weight gain while allowing you to get most of your calories from your normal diet.
Smart Mass is especially beneficial if you struggle to eat enough due to a poor appetite since calories in liquid form have less of an impact on fullness than calories in whole-food form (12).
Smart Mass contains lactose but in an amount that may be tolerable by some people with lactose intolerance since most of the lactose has been removed from the whey and casein blend during processing and because it provides lactase to digest lactose.
How to Take Smart Mass
To take Smart Mass, mix one scoop with 16 ounces of cold water and shake or blend.
For more calories and protein, mix with milk or a dairy-free alternative like soy milk instead of water.
When you take Smart Mass isn't necessarily important as long as you take it daily, which can be in addition to meals or snacks, around your workouts, or before bed.
Smart Mass provides the perfect number of calories to promote clean weight gain, but you can up the calories by blending it with other ingredients such as frozen fruit, quick oats, and Greek yogurt.
Adding healthy sources of fats is also a great way to bump up the calories since Smart Mass intentionally contains no added fats.
Healthy sources to blend with Smart Mass include avocado, nut or seed butters, and extra virgin olive oil.
These ingredients and healthy fat sources pair well with its two delicious flavors — Gourmet Chocolate and Gourmet Vanilla.
The Bottom Line
Smart Mass is a weight gainer designed for clean mass gains.
It provides 40 grams of a high-quality whey and casein blend along with healthy carbohydrate sources to support a healthier metabolism and higher-quality gains.
Smart Mass also provides a full spectrum of digestive enzymes to ensure you extract all the nutrition it provides without digestive discomfort.
So whether you struggle to gain weight due to a fast metabolism, poor appetite, or other reason, taking Smart Mass daily alongside your regular diet can help you pack on the pounds — the clean way.
